Hear from students

  • I can’t form myself as a theologian. I can’t form myself as a pastor. It’s God’s people and His word and His spirit who form me.

    Noah Martini
    FIRST-YEAR MDIV STUDENT

  • When I was considering the Deaconess Studies program or any kind of biblical study, I wanted to be sure that the formation I was receiving was in line with my beliefs in the Lutheran Confessions.

    Peggy Krueger
    DISTANCE DEACONESS STUDENT

  • God has called former firefighters, former military personnel, former chief financial officers of major financial institutes, doctors, lawyers, people from all walks of life. And that’s not any different from what we saw Jesus do in picking the disciples.

Campus Life

CTSFW is a thriving community where students, faculty, staff, and families interact daily. Learn about the frequent on-campus events that keep students and their families engaged in the life of the campus and in Christian fellowship.

CTSFW understands that residential formation of students as pastors and church workers takes place not only in the classroom but also in community. Whether students find community with fellow students in the dorms or off campus, they have the support they need during their time at the Seminary.

Families relocating to Fort Wayne will find a strong support network, both at CTSFW and in the broader Fort Wayne community. Spouses and families are central to residential formation, and we want spouses to thrive while their loved ones pursue pastoral ministry or diaconal service.

Our Food & Clothing Co-op provides students and their families with food, clothing, and home goods free of charge, thanks to the generosity of donors throughout the country who love to support their future pastors and deaconesses.

Kramer Chapel is the center of spiritual life at CTSFW. Our chapel services feature sermons from faculty and guest preachers alongside music offered by choirs and instrumental groups. CTSFW provides many opportunities for students, families, and community members to be involved in choirs, instrumental music, and concerts.

Health and recreation are important, even when you’re a busy seminary student. Whether you want to participate in intramural sports, work out in a well-equipped weight room, or put on a jersey and compete against other teams, you’ll be able to stay active at CTSFW.

CTSFW cares about the health and safety of students and their families while they are at the Seminary, and as they go into full-time church work. Our athletics program and healthcare resources facilitate student wellbeing.

Fort Wayne, nicknamed “The City of Churches,” is home to a robust Lutheran community and a great place to raise a family. The second-largest city in Indiana, Fort Wayne has been recognized for its high quality of life and affordability. CTSFW is conveniently located near parks, paths, retail areas, restaurants, and many Fort Wayne attractions, including the Fort Wayne Zoo and Parkview Field.

Visitors are always welcome at CTSFW. For a campus map, directions, accessibility information, and campus hours, visit our About the Campus page.
