At Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne (CTSFW), athletics is about more than physical activity—it is an extension of spiritual and personal development. Rooted in our Lutheran identity, the athletic department is dedicated to forming well-rounded Christian leaders by promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and discipline. This commitment echoes the Apostle Paul’s exhortation to “run with endurance the race that is set before us” (Hebrews 12:1).

Gym Renovations
The newly renovated Wambsganss Gymnasium offers an upgraded space for recreation and community use. Improvements include:
- Refinished hardwood basketball court
- Enhanced lighting and fresh paint
- Updated basketball equipment
- New rubberized flooring in the weight room
These updates create a welcoming environment for competitive play, intramurals, family recreation, and fellowship events, supporting CTSFW’s commitment to comprehensive student development.
Programming & Facilities
The King’s Men sports program enhances student life at CTSFW by offering seminarians a chance to engage in athletics while continuing their theological formation.
Sponsored Sports
CTSFW currently supports three organized King’s Men teams that compete both regionally and in inter-seminary rivalries:
- Baseball
- Soccer
- Basketball
These teams regularly compete against Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, fostering fraternity and friendly competition between the two LCMS seminaries. Additional games against nearby colleges and institutions further expand opportunities for camaraderie and community engagement.
The CTSFW weight room supports the seminary’s holistic formation mission—intellectual, spiritual, and physical. Located on the second floor of the Wambsganss Gymnasium, the facility is open to students, faculty, staff, and their families.
Personal trainers are available to assist with training plans or technique guidance as needed.
