Biography
Rev. Michael Salemink was called to join the faculty of Concordia Theological Seminary in 2025 as Assistant Professor of Pastoral Ministry and Missions.
He received a BA in theology and theological languages from Concordia University Chicago (1999) and a MDiv from CTSFW (2003). He is currently completing a PhD at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, with a dissertation about the Lutheran theology of imagination affecting belief and behavior change with respect to the sanctity of life.
Prior to CTSFW, Rev. Salemink served as pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Webster, Minnesota (2003–2005), associate pastor of St. James Lutheran Church and School, Lafayette, Indiana (2005–2015), and executive director of Lutherans For Life (2015–2025).
His publications include A Biblical Response to Abortion (CPH, 2021), chapter contributions to Grounded in God’s Word (CPH, 2018) and Objections Overruled III (Issues, Etc., 2023), and articles for Logia, Concordia Theological Quarterly, Concordia Pulpit Resources, and The Federalist, as well as numerous booklets for Lutherans For Life. He presents frequently at church worker conferences, and he holds certifications as a Stephen Ministry Leader and a Prepare/Enrich Facilitator.
Rev. Salemink and his wife, Heather, were married in 2000 and have been blessed with three wonderful sons (Christian, Nathan, and Luke), one delightful daughter-in-law (Maggie), and a magnificent grandson (Oliver). A native of Iowa, he is an avid runner and enjoys sports and music.
